Title 1
Title 1, a part of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), is the largest federally funded education program. Resources are provided to eligible school districts based on economic need. It is intended to help ensure that students in need of extra instruction are provided the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education in order to reach proficiency on the challenging state academic standards and assessments. Title 1 funding may be used to provide additional instructional staff, programs, and scientifically-based instructional strategies to raise student achievement. The funding must be used to supplement and be in addition to any state and locally funded programs.
