Special Education
The Woburn Public Schools meets Federal and State guidelines in the provision of special education services for children ages three (3) through twenty-two (22). The Special Education Department provides comprehensive services in the areas of indentification and evaluation. When determined as eligible specialized instruction is provided through an Individual Education Program (IEP). Students are determined to be eligible for an IEP when they meet the following Federal and State criteria:
Indentified disability (Federal/State guidelines)
Inability to make effective progress
Require specialized instruction (instruction that is scientifically research based and not otherwise in the repertoire of the general education teacher)
For all children who are receiving Early Intervention services, parents are asked to make a referral for services in advance to their child's third (3) birthday. For school age children, parents are asked to contact their building principal. Our contact information is available to the left, should you require further information.
